Alabaster is one of the oldest natural materials known to man and has been appreciated by him for its beauty and delicacy since the days of the Ancient Egyptians.

The family firm of Chiellini S.N.C. whichhas worked in the Etruscan city of Volterra for generations, continues this four thousand year old artistic tradition up to this day, creating an important place in the international market for high quality gift items and games, particularly their world-renowned chess set, hand-crafted in the local translucent stone for which Volterra has become justly famous.

In recent years Chiellini’s craftmen, with the aid of international designers have developed new techniques and new materials in a continuous effort to find new and ever-more imaginative ways of exploiting alabaster’s natural beauty, coupling it with different materials like wood, glass, metal and leather.

But,as a family firm, we pride ourselves on our ability to respond to the more modest requirements of individual retailers with the same care and attention and our design studio is always willing to look at any particular requirements that our clients may have with a view to creating exclusive or customised items.
